Artur Jocz has long devoted his keen attention to two issues: the category of gnosis in theological thought on the one hand, and Polish literature of the nineteenth and twentieth century on the other. As a thinker and researcher, he operates on the juncture of the two areas, to splendid effect. This time, his inquiry focused on the prose of Bruno Schulz, which he confronted with the various themes within gnostic thought. The resulting volume is certain to find much interest with those engaging in literature studies, historians of philosophy, as well as scholars representing other disciplines of the humanities.
